The Autumn Style Guide

I just put the heating on and it's pouring with rain outside, so it seems as good a time as any to be blogging about autumn. I used to dread it's arrival, now that I don't have to go back to school I've realised I actually quite like it. Scented candles, hot chocolate, good TV and of course looking forward to my birthday and Christmas.

My wardrobe is in desperate need of a seasonal update, this time last year I was heavily pregnant and on bedrest so all my cold weather clothes are at least two years old. While I was browsing page after page, I thought I'd put together a little edit of my favourite bits, just incase you're looking for some inspiration too.

Perfect for rainy days, practical without being a complete eyesore. Maybe not the warmest but as it's on the roomier side a cosy jumper could easily be layered underneath.

I love the embroidery detail on this black sweatshirt, it will look great with jeans for day or leather skinnies/mini skirt for an effortless night out look. Statement pieces that are still comfortable are always high up on my shopping list.

It was so difficult to narrow it down to this coat, there were about ten I wanted to include! Perhaps I'll do an entire post dedicated to coats! Both the cut and colour of this one are great. If you're after a good coat on a budget, ZARA is not a bad place to start.

I was about to snap these up but they've sold out in my size *sob* a good quality pair of boots are always worth the investment. A classic style like these will last many a winter unlike some of the highstreet ones which barely make it through one.

A huge, cosy scarf to wrap yourself up in. Who says you can't wear millennial pink in autumn?

I'm loving the return of statement earrings, this bright, tassel pair are the perfect way to update your look on a budget.

A small, black, understated bag with a bit of metal detailing is a great piece to have. I got a lovely one by Halston Heritage last year and it's my go-to almost every time I go out. Which isn't very often by-the-way, but still!

Another versatile black top that can be dressed down or up. I love the square neckline and the soft, chiffon frills.

Perfect for casual days out or when you're lounging around the house. Preferably on a Sunday, with the aforementioned hot chocolate/candle/TV combo.

Because why wear plain white ones when you can wear velvet, burgundy ones and feel like you're modern royalty!

A Fantastic Budget Eyeshadow Palette

When it comes to eyeshadow palettes, I tend to stick to high-end ones. Despite the fact that they're expensive, they last forever so I always feel they're worth the money. It's quite rare for me to pick one up on the highstreet (drugstore) but when I saw this one I just couldn't resist. That bright purple and cobalt blue immediately caught my eye.

A Nail related ramble

It's been a while since I blogged about nails, so when better than now? Honestly, my nails have been pretty neglected in the last few months. I've barely painted them, mostly because painting my nails was pretty low down in my list of priorities with a new baby in the house! Now that he's a bit older and sleeps longer I have a bit more time on my hands. My old ritual of painting my nails in front of the telly (watching Game of Thrones!) in the evenings has slowly crept back in.

Acqua di Parma, Fico di Amalfi

I have this thing about scents and holidays, it all started with my honeymoon a few years ago, I took a new fragrance with me and wore it everyday while we where away. I haven't worn it much since then, just a few days here and there but every time I do it takes me right back to that trip. Even my hubby notices and chirps in with a 'oh that's the honeymoon perfume' and we end up chatting about the trip for a while. The human brain works in mysterious ways!

3 Spring Florals

I've never been one for a signature scent, life is too short and I'm far too indecisive. I've built up quite a little collection over the years and throughly enjoy picking out which one to wear every morning. Today I thought I'd share with you a few light, spring-y floral scents I've been enjoying wearing recently.

Cream Blushers

If you've never used a cream blusher before, chances are you think they're a bit of a difficult to use product that should be left to the experts. That's not true at all, they're really easy to use, in fact even easier than a powder because you don't need a brush and they look so much more natural on the skin.

The only face powder you need

I've never been hugely into powders, they just don't excite me in the way that other makeup items do. That said, I've managed to try a huge amount over the years, both on myself and at work. They're very functional to me, they serve a purpose. They need to keep my makeup in place all day, soak up extra shine in unwanted areas but never look cakey or overly matte.

The £20 Makeup Sponge

I'm terribly late to the party on this one. Makeup artists, bloggers and youtubers have been singing the praises of the beauty blender for years now. My thinking was, it's just an overpriced sponge, how good can it be? Plus I couldn't help but feel like the whole process was a bit of a faff, you have to wet it, squeeze out the water and then bounce it over your skin to blend in foundation, who has the time? And so not one, but two beauty blenders sat completely untouched in the back of my dressing table drawer for well over a year.

A Cashmere Blanket for your Face

This moisturiser is like a cosy, cashmere blanket for your face. If your skin veers on the oilier, spot prone side, you can probably give this a miss. But if like me, you have skin that's dry, sensitive and feeling the effects of a long winter, lack of sleep and general neglect, listen up.
